Routine for L

NEEDING MOISTURE--->
My daughter L has 3c/4a hair. I wash her hair once a week with a SULFATE & PARABEN FREE shampoo and condition everyday. I finger detangle her hair while the conditioner is in starting with her ends, being careful NOT TO RIP at any knots and damaging her hair. L's hair is very thick so I do this in sections. Once I have loosened all the large tangles and I can run my fingers through her hair I use a wide tooth comb to finish detangling, braiding each section as I go to prevent new knots. Leaving the braids in I rinse L's hair with warm-NOT HOT water and pat dry-DON'T RUB. Before styling I get all of my supplies and some toys ready. Being 2 yrs old she does not usually cooperate with intricate styles so many of hers are simple. We always add our homemade oil mixture and sometimes a moisturizing cream before styling, making sure to wet her hair as needed. I do not style her hair when its dry unless it was banded. Goody Ouchless bands are my preference most often but I also use rubberbands. Always soak rubberbands in olive/grapeseed oil (or other oil) before using. Squeezing products in rather than rubbing is best. I will post some pictures of products that we have tried and homemade mixtures that we count on. The biggest factor is moisture!! Get it in anyway you can.

Routine for IM

IM's HAIR WITHOUT BEING MOISTURIZED!! NOTICE THE FRIZZ & LACK OF CURL DEFINITION.....
My son has 3b hair except for the upper middle section which is 3a. His hair can be very frizzy and dry when it is not well moisturized which can be a hassle with a young man. He washes his hair once a week with Kirkland deep moisture shampoo -SULFATE & PARABEN FREE- but conditions daily, using Kirkland deep moisture conditioner, and combing with a wide tooth comb while conditioner is in his hair. He towel dries lightly without rubbing. I have made a combination oil, aloe and glycerin mixture (super easy) that he applies to his hair daily after showering as well as a chemical free cream or gelly. Squeezing products in rather than rubbing is best. I will post some pictures of products that we have tried and homemade mixtures that we count on. The biggest factor is moisture!! Get it in anyway you can. Below is a picture of IM's hair well nourished.

Let's talk HAIR & SKIN-CARE

I am the proud mother of three biracial children, one boy and two girls. I'm going to share a wealth of info I've learned through experience and lots of help from others (internet & peers). Please share any good advice or questions you may have, no matter how silly you think it is....it's important!!!! Also, I'll need patience while I get my blog up & running but you won't be disappointed. Let's help eachother as we keep or are transitioning our babies hair and skin care to natural and chemical free.
